Boys basketball roundup: Cyclones stun D-NH boys

DENVER 61, DIKE-NEW HARTFORD 55: The Cyclones put the game away at the free-throw line, making 17-of-22 shots to end D-NH's undefeated start to the season in the Cyclone Center on Tuesday night.

Both teams made eight 3-pointers, combining to go 16-of-39 from the 3-point line. Kyler Matthias scored a game-high 27 points for the Cyclones, Dane Fuller led the Wolverines with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting, 5-of-10 from 3-point land.

Derek Kinney scored five points with 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals, AJ Wegener added 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

D-NH trailed 11-8 after the first quarter but moved ahead 29-26 at the halftime break. Denver outscored D-NH 23-11 in the final quarter to close out the victory.

 

A-P 65, AGWSR 42: The Cougars fell behind early in a 65-42 loss at Aplington-Parkersburg High School on Tuesday.

Luke Starr led the Cougars with 10 points and added seven rebounds. Daniel Stahl added eight points and four rebounds, Jaden Penning scored four points with seven rebounds and three steals.

AGWSR fell behind 20-9 after the first quarter and trailed 51-29 after three quarters.

 

WEST MARSHALL 52, BCLUW 50: The Trojans held on for a victory in State Center on Tuesday, beating back the Comets.

BCLUW led 15-6 after the first quarter, but West Marshall rallied to take a 40-37 lead going into the final eight minutes.

The Trojans won despite making just 10-of-21 free throws. Gabe Jones led West Marshall with 24 points and added nine rebounds.
