Boys basketball roundup: Grundy Center wins 3rd in a row

GRUNDY CENTER 64, EAST MARSHALL 52: Brayden Sawyer put away 20 points for the win in Le Grand, the third in a row for the Spartans.

Wes Willis added 11 points and three rebounds, Jensen Clapp scored seven points with four rebounds and six assists.

Grundy Center led 30-26 at halftime. The Spartans shot 53.1 percent from the floor and made 8-of-22 from three-point range – Sawyer had four of those treys.

 

GLADBROOK-REINBECK 58, WEST MARSHALL 30: After Tuesday's loss to Grundy Center, G-R got back on track behind 20 points from William Kiburis in the big win in State Center.

Kiburis was very close to a quadruple double, adding eight rebounds, nine assists and eight steals. Tyler Tscherter contributed 15 points and nine rebounds.

The Rebels went up 28-11 at halftime, stretched the lead to 49-20 after three quarters. G-R made 16-of-22 attempts from the charity stripe and capitalized on 23 West Marshall turnovers.

 

SUMNER-FRED. 62, D-NH 57: The Cougars shot 50 percent from the floor in the upset victory over the Wolverines in Dike.

James Stimson led all scorers with 27 points for Sumner-Fredericksburg on 10-of-20 shooting, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range.

Dane Fuller paced the Wolverine attack with 17 points, adding four assists. Zak Wauters scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.

D-NH led 30-26 at halftime, but Sumner-Fred surged to a 45-40 advantage after the third quarter and played the Wolverines even in the final stanza.

D-NH committed 16 turnovers in the game, but wasn't far behind Sumner-Fredericksburg with a 44.9 field goal percentage (22-of-49), 7-of-17 from long range.
