Brandt, Wallis, Foster named IGCA All-District

   Three Register-area girls basketball players were named to all-district teams by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association in teams released on Wednesday.
   AGWSR’s Maddie Brandt was selected to the Class 1A team, Grundy Center’s Hailey Wallis was picked for the 2A team and Dike-New Hartford’s Ellie Foster earned a spot on the 3A team. Additionally, Grundy Center coach Matt Lindeman was named 2A Central District’s Coach of the Year following the Spartans’ 19-3 campaign.
   Brandt led the Cougars with 13.8 points per game in her senior season with the Cougars. She averaged 44.6 percent from 3-point range (33-of-74 attempts) and also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds per game. AGWSR bowed out in the regional final this season with a final record of 19-5.
   Wallis did a bit of everything for the Spartans as a sophomore, averaging a team-leading 16.3 points per game with a 36.4 3-point shooting percentage (56-of-154), 63 steals, 4.3 rebounds per game and 44 assists. The Spartans ended their season in the regional semifinal with a 19-3 record.
   Foster had a productive freshman season for the Wolverines with a 9.9 point-per-game average leading the way for Dike-New Hartford’s offense, in addition to 55 rebounds, 41 assists and 39 steals. The Wolverines finished 13-10 overall.
