The Grundy Center Police Department is currently investigating a burglary that occurred at Norby’s Farm Fleet in Grundy Center earlier this month, which resulted in over $2,000 worth of merchandise being stolen.

According to GC Police Chief Doug Frost, sometime in the early morning hours of December 4, a burglar broke into Norby’s by cutting the phone lines to disable the alarm, and smashing a window between the front sliding doors to enter.

Once inside, the burglar grabbed an armful of high-dollar DeWalt tools sitting near the front of the store, before running out the back door. Frost says the burglar was likely only in the store for less than a minute. Frost says he expects that at least one other person was involved in the burglary.

“He came in through the front door, and ran out the back door, where I’m assuming someone else was waiting in a vehicle to drive them away,” he said.

Frost says he also found vehicle tracks behind the store, which confirm his theory that a vehicle was waiting out back.
