Clark, Pierce named District 4 Players of the Year
Schools from Grundy County dominated the Class A, District 4 football race this year. Not surprisingly, those same schools dominated the district’s postseason awards.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Grundy Center and BCLUW combined for a 15-3 record in district play, with their only losses to each other, and combined for 19 first-team all-district picks, including the District’s offensive and defensive players of the year.
G-R senior tailback Chase Clark was recognized as the District Offensive Player of the Year after leading both the district and Class A in rushing with 2,122 yards. He also scored 25 touchdowns. Junior Zach Pierce was named District Defensive Player of the Year after recording 65 total tackles, including seven quarterback sacks and 17 tackles for a loss.
