Comet boys go winless during opening week

CONRAD, ELDORA- New coach Luke Higgins’s tenure at the head of the BCLUW boys’ basketball program got off to a shaky start with a pair of double-digit losses at the hands of Waterloo Christian and South Hardin to open the season last week.
The Comets fell 67-51 to the Regents (1-0) last Monday night in a nonconference tilt as Waterloo Christian senior Timothy Doering torched BCLUW for 40 points, including five three-pointers. The two teams were knotted at seven after the first frame before the Regents opened up a 25-17 halftime lead, and they outscored the Comets 42-34 in the second half en route to the 16 point victory.
