Council approves ‘16 budget

    GRUNDY CENTER — Grundy Center homeowners will see no tax increase in Fiscal 2016. Monday the Grundy Center City Council assured that as it approved its budget following a brief public hearing.
    The budget keeps a tax rate of $15.60 per $1,000 valuation on regular property and $3.00 per $1,000 valuation for agricultural land. The $7.78 million budget includes $484,078 for public works, $465,030 for debt service, $405,998 for culture and recreation and $386,504 for public safety. all of which are near figures budgeted for the city last year. City revenues are projected to drop slightly, from $8,381,567 a year ago to $8,121,796 this year, though total expenditures will see an even sharper drop, from $$8,345,420 last year to $7,583,194 this year.
