Council bids farewell to Mayor Van Wert

    GRUNDY CENTER — The new shape of the Grundy Center City Council went into effect Monday, Dec. 30 and Monday, Jan. 6, with outgoing Mayor Rex Van Wert saying his goodbyes to Council members and city leaders and new Mayor Brian Buhrow being sworn into office.
    The Dec. 30 meeting saw Council approvals of liquor licenses for the west Casey’s General Store as well as Scotty’s Saloon and Johnny Ray’s, as well as acceptance of the November Treasurer’s and Investments Report.
    Following business proceedings, Van Wert swore Buhrow into office as mayor, Councilmen Dave Steffl and Chad Hamann into their positions and Dennis Westerman onto the Park Board.
