County receives counteroffer for Zenor, Inc. property

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy County Board of Supervisors and Zenor, Inc. appear closer to a settlement than in a long time regarding the County’s purchase of the former Baptist church property at the corner of Seventh Street and H Avenue.
Monday, following a lengthy executive session, the Supervisors briefly discussed having received a counter to an offer they made. Supervisor Barb Smith made a motion that the Supervisors request from Zenor’s counsel that an asbestos inspector be allowed to inspect the property prior to considering the offer.
There was no public discussion about the amount of the offer or details about it. The Iowa Open Meetings Law permits governmental bodies to discuss the potential purchase of real estate in closed session under certain conditions.
