Cross country report: GC/G-R tops team standings in Tama
TAMA – Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck cross country won the girls and boys team races at the South Tama Invite in Tama on Monday, Sept. 12.
The girls scored 47 points, 13 ahead of North Tama. The boys put up 46 points, eight points better than South Tama.
Grace Storjohann, Laney Dole and Karlee Lynch finished third through fifth for GC/G-R to lead the way. Kali Aldrich scored 12th-place points and Avery Dirks closed out the scoring in 23rd.
BCLUW was sixth with 121 points. Abby Kemp and Kalia Stover led the Comets in second and sixth, respectively. Kemp finished in 22:05; North Tama’s Grace Lidgett won the race in 21:35.
Kaden Lynch was the boys runner-up in 16:38, seven seconds behind South Tama’s Tommy Tyynismaa. Brennen Sager was fourth, Tyler Venenga seventh and Emerson Vokes 10th. Devin Wrider closed out the team scoring in 23rd.
BCLUW’s boys were fifth with 157 points. Cayden McLeland had the fastest time for the Comets in 17th in 18:52.

OLLIVIERRE 4TH AT HUXLEY: Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR freshman Nakia Ollivierre placed fourth in the Class B girls race at the Ballard Cross Country Invite on Monday, Sept. 12.
Ollivierre completed the course in 20:16. Solon’s Kayla Young won in 19:27.
The Cadets placed fifth in the team standings with 114 points.
Jase Beaubien finished 15th in 18:20, leading the IF-A/AGWSR boys to an 11th-place team finish.
HOUTS LEADS D-NH TO 3RD: Izzy Houts finished in the individual top 10 to lead Dike-New Hartford girls cross country to a third-place team finish at the Bob Scott Memorial Invitational on the North Fayette Valley campus in West Union on Thursday, Sept. 8.
The Wolverines scored 75 points and finished behind NFV (64) and Jesup (66) in the team standings. Jesup and NFV were ranked 15th and 20th in Class 2A, respectively, heading into the race.
Houts, a junior, was seventh in 22:10.
The D-NH boys scored 156 points, two points behind Postville Community in sixth.
Tyler Nystel was the lead runner for D-NH, scoring 13th-place points in 19:03.73.

MEGA MARSHALLTOWN MEET: IF-A/AGWSR’s Nakia Ollivierre was the top individual girls finisher in 25th place in a massive meet at Marshalltown Community College.
There were 135 girls runners competing in the race, mostly from large schools.
BCLUW’s Abby Kemp was 78th and Kalia Stover placed 119th.
On the boys’ side, BCLUW’s Cayden White finished 134th for the Comets finishing in 23rd-place in the team standings.
DICK POLLITT CLASSIC: Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck competed at the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic on the Wartburg Max Cross Country Course in Waverly on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Race results are divided by class year, freshman through senior, with three runners required to place in the respective classes. Classes with fewer than three runners did not record a team score, their results are listed by overall placement in their respective races - upperclassmen and underclassmen raced separately.
