D-NH grounds Eagle Grove in playoff opener

DIKE – Dike-New Hartford football subdued Eagle Grove in a 49-0 win at Dike-New Hartford High School on Friday, part of the first round of Class 1A football playoff action.

The Wolverines (9-0) take on Pella Christian (8-1) in Dike on Friday in a second-round matchup.

Jerek Hall ran the ball 18 times for 222 yards and three touchdowns and Devon Kollasch added a touchdown as one of three catches for 41 yards in the passing game.

The defense shined brightest on Friday - despite leading 35-0 at halftime, the Wolverines still limited Eagle Grove to 111 yards of total offense and made 11 ½ tackles for loss, with 2 ½ each for Isaac Carpentier, Zachry Adelmund and Cale Jensen. D-NH also scored two touchdowns off Eagle Grove turnovers, with Parker Adams returning an interception 63 yards for a touchdown and Rhett Wardell scooping a 25-yard fumble recovery for another score. Jace Hall and Carpentier added an interception and fumble recovery each.

Carpentier led the tackle charts at 8 ½ tackles, Nick Reinicke was close behind at 6 ½ tackles.
