D-NH plays final game in home gym

DIKE – Dike-New Hartford volleyball had the honor of being the final varsity contest played in the soon-to-be old high school gymnasium, sweeping past Woodward-Granger in a Class 2A Region 4 quarterfinal last Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Due to venue restrictions on who can host regional games past the quarterfinal round, top-ranked D-NH played in Gilbert on Monday, Oct. 24 in a 3-0 sweep of Manson Northwest Webster to advance to the regional finals. The Wolverines will take on Grand View Christian at BCLUW High School in Conrad on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. The winner advances to next week’s 2A state tournament, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Xtream Arena in Coralville.

D-NH won 25-8, 25-5, 25-14 against Woodward-Granger.

Payton Petersen dominated with 19 kills on 32 attacks; Ellie Knock and Maryn Bixby added eight kills each. Defensively, Bixby made four blocks at the net and Jadyn Petersen led the team with 17 digs. Madelyn Norton added 37 assists and 10 digs. The Wolverines converted 67-of-73 serves, including 11 aces. Payton Petersen had five of the aces and Claire McCumber, Jadyn Petersen and Abby Jensen added two aces each.

D-NH defeated Manson-NW Webster 25-8, 25-6, 25-10.

Payton Petersen finished with 16 kills on 27 attacks and Jadyn Petersen and Maryn Bixby had eight kills each. Payton and Jadyn Petersen added nine and seven digs each. Abby Jensen also had seven digs and Maryn Bixby provided extra defense at the net with four total blocks, including two solo stuffs. Madelyn Norton distributed 37 assists with three kills and four digs.

At the service line, Lucy Varney and Claire McCumber each dropped in three ace serves and Jadyn Petersen had two aces on 15-of-17 serving.
