Dean Lynch
Dean Lynch, 90, of Conrad, and formerly of Beaman, passed away on the evening of Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Services for Dean were held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St. Henry’s Catholic Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Dean Eldon Lynch was born February 25, 1930, to parents, John J. and Clarice “Fern” (Dunbar) Lynch on the family farm in rural Gladbrook, Iowa. He was one of three children born to the family. Dean attended school in Gladbrook and graduated from Gladbrook High School as part of the class of 1948. Following High School, Dean was drafted in to the United States Army and served from 1951 until 1953. Following his time in the service, Dean returned home and began farming alongside his father on the family farm.
On August 4, 1956, Dean was united in marriage to his loving wife, Mary Jo Moseley at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown. The two began a family of their own raising three children, Danice, Rick and Kathy Jo. Dean and Mary Jo lived and worked on their own farm from 1958 to 1995 when he retired. In 2007, Dean and Mary Jo moved from the family farm to Conrad, Iowa. Dean was a member of: St. Francis of Assisi Parish St. Henry’s Catholic Church, American Legion Unit 131 of Beaman, Beaman Coop Board, Oakwood Golf Board and the Badger Hill Cemetery Board. In his free time Dean enjoyed golfing all over the United States and abroad, fishing trips to Leech Lake Minnesota, hunting, traveling both in the U.S. and abroad, tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, and was proud to be a veteran. Upon his retirement, Dean and Mary Jo enjoyed their winters together in San Antonio, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was always there for all of them.
Left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Danice (Jack) Zern, Rick, (Linda) Lynch and Kathy Jo (Mark) Button; his grandchildren Nicole (Anthony) McKillip, Brook (Adam) McPherson, Brittany (Chase) Brown, Tyler (Kerri) Lynch, Daniel (Lindsay) Lynch, Hannah (Cole) Hoitsma, Drew Button and Amy Button and 13 great-grandchildren. In death, he rejoins his wife, Mary Jo; his parents John and Fern Lynch; his twin brother, Dan Lynch and his sister, Marge Clingan.
