Dean N. Maddux

Dean N. Maddux, 87, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. Dean was born on August 13, 1936, in Marshalltown, Iowa to his parents Ray and Grace (Petersen) Maddux. He graduated from Reinbeck High School in the class of 1956. Dean was united in marriage to Joyce DeVries on June 12, 1965. The couple made their home in Grundy Center and welcomed their son David into their family. Dean was co-owner of A and D Refrigeration. He worked there for many years until he retired.

Dean was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. He loved boating and water skiing. Both hobbies he picked up after he sold his plane and stopped flying at Joyce’s request. He enjoyed fixing things and tinkering. However, his true joy in life came from spending time with his family. Dean loved attending his son David’s sporting events and he adored his granddaughters.

Dean is survived by his wife Joyce; his son David Maddux; granddaughters Olivia and Ava Maddux; brother Gale (Jean) Maddux; and nephews Martin and Andrew Maddux. He was preceded in death by his parents.
