Donation breathes new life into GCHS National Honor Society

    GRUNDY CENTER — A recent donation has breathed new life into the Grundy Center High School National Honor Society and assured its future for years to come.
    The $5,000 donation came from the estate of Frances Willoughby Smoldt, a charter member of the Maggie Gray Chapter “for the perpetuation of the Maggie Gray National Honor Society at Grundy Center Community Schools with interest income to be used to pay annual expenses of the organization.
    Smoldt was inducted into the chapter in 1927. Three of her children, Chuck, Craig and Robert were members of the chapter as were two of her grandchildren, Cynthia and David.
