Edith Lindaman
Edith Lindaman passed away on November 29, 2020, from cancer at Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center, IA, where she was recovering from a recent surgery.
Edith Ellen (Nichols) Lindaman was born on October 21, 1922 in Wellsburg, IA to Ray Nichols and Ella (Meyer) Nichols. She was a graduate of Wellsburg High School in 1940, after which she spent a year at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, IA for nurses training. She married Wendell John Lindaman, son of John W. Lindaman and Margaret (Beving) Lindaman on December 25, 1943. When Wendall joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was stationed in California prior to deployment in the Pacific, Edith traveled there with him and worked as a nurse until his safe return. They returned to the Wellsburg rural area, where they raised their five children: Mary (Hart), Jean (Wilson), Nita (Gunnon), Alyce (Balvanz) and Paul Lindaman. They were blessed with seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Hart), Cory (Gunnon), Justina (Murphy/Balvanz) Hamilton, Kimberly (Balvanz) Heitz, Paul Balvanz, Jacob Lindaman and Andrew Lindaman. They were further blessed with four great-grandchildren: Laurissa Hamilton, Alyssa Hamilton, Lacey Lindaman (daughter of Jacob and Katie), and Parker Heitz.
Over the years, Edith worked as a chef and then for Hardin County Homemakers Health Aid Service until she retired. During their years together, Edith and Wendell loved to travel around the country and enjoyed fishing, water skiing and going on bus tours. Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years Wendell John Lindaman in 2009. Edith will have a private funeral with nearby family members. A Memorial service will be held at a later date at the United Reformed Church in Wellsburg, IA.
