Eldon Bernard Kruger
Eldon Bernard Kruger, 89, of Holland passed peacefully at his home on August 24th, 2024.
Eldon was born March 10th, 1935, at the family farmstead near Holland to Klaas and Elsie (Harrenstein) Kruger, and graduated from Grundy Center High in 1953. Eldon took a job with the Spokesman Press for 42 years, then worked for the Holland Post Office for 14 years.
In 1956, Eldon married Darlene Boren, having four sons together. After their divorce in 1975, he married Linda Ziesman, his wife of 46 years, in 1978, who helped raise the youngest three boys before they had one daughter together.
Eldon was much loved, much respected, and will be missed for his commitment to the Lord, which was displayed through the manner in which he lived his life for Christ and his life-long membership at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.
Eldon will be long remembered for his love of fastpitch softball, master woodworking, for the many tractor rides he gave his grandkids, his love of crossword puzzles, and last but not least, for his propensity to drive around the countryside in search of bad coffee, good company, the occasional tornado, and the best donuts to bring back home.
Eldon is survived by his wife Linda, and five children: sons Kevin (Sherry) Kruger of Hawkinsville GA; Carl Kruger of Iowa Falls; Lee (Elizabeth) Kruger of Valley City ND; Lance (Jenny) Kruger of Dubuque IA; and daughter Jenny Kruger (Nate Grove) of Spokane Valley, WA. He will be missed by grandchildren Levi, Alison, Kaia, Casey, Jacob, Jaq, and Quintilian, by great grandchildren Harmony, Levi Jr, Cross, and Austin, and by sisters Bernita (Richard) Lamfers, Karen Kruger, and Jean (Kevin) Ralston, and brother-in-law Roger Ziesman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Darlene, parents Klaas and Elsie, parents-in-law Albert and Irene, his sister Clarice, his sister-in-law Sharon, and his granddaughter Hannah.
