Eva Clark
Eva Dell Clark, 76, of rural Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away from brain cancer on June 17, 2023, at the Grundy Care Center.
Eva was born July 27, 1946, at home in Dinsdale, Iowa, to Harold and Ruth (Ritchey) Brubaker. She was united in marriage to Robert Clark on December 19, 1964, at the Dike Methodist Church in Dike, Iowa. They made their home outside of Dike for 40 years before he passed away in March 2005.
She was always a busy person. She loved her job as a seasonal worker, sorting beans (or maybe more so gossiping with her friends). If she wasn’t doing something for the grandchildren, it was going to coffee with friends and family. She enjoyed canning, baking, sewing, crafts, and cross- stitching. Among other things, she was very particular about her projects, especially when she was giving them away. If it had a flaw, she would tear it out and redo it. She enjoyed her road trips to Pennsylvania, Padre Island (Texas), apple orchard visits, and watching eagles on the Mississippi River. She always made time for the stockcar races. She also enjoyed going to ALL the grandkids’ activities, reading her romance novels and Amish books. She also cherished her fur babies (her kitties and grandkitties), who were all incredibly special to her.
Eva is survived by her children- Robert (Jane) Clark, Jr of New Sharon, Melissa (Brian) VanDeest of Dike, Michael (Jennifer) Clark of Waterloo, seven amazingly crazy grandchildren – Kyle Clark (Kelsi Nicholson), Tiffany (Mike) Stokes, Sherece Clark, Kristen Guyer, Chelsea Clark (Drake Dawson), Courtney Clark, and Zachary Clark (Taylor Stanbrough), and one honorary grandchild, Joyce Dupee, six great-grandchildren- Amrik, SyVeane, Paisley, Tyson, Karter and Owen.
Eva was also blessed to find love again with her partner of 16 years, Jim Stanbrough. She is also survived by him and his children – Ted (Kris) Stanbrough, Gene (Amy) Stanbrough, Zeb (Tenielle) Stanbrough, and grandchildren – Zoa, Drew, Xavier, Xander and Lilly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brothers Curtis and Billy Brubaker, brothers-in-law Dallas Larsen and Ronald White, sister-in-law Joan Brubaker, grandsons-in-law Anthony Guyer and Zachary VandenBerg.
The family would like to thank all who have been involved in this journey, from the first visit to Allen Hospital, to Iowa City Hospital, Grundy Hospital and Grundy Care Center- to all the therapists, doctors, nurses, aides, dietary, housekeeping, and most of all, Cedar Valley Hospice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Abels Funeral & Cremation Service- French-Hand Chapel in Reinbeck. The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Dike Methodist Church with visitation an hour before the service. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
