Fifth annual Taste of Grundy Center proves to be a hit
GRUNDY CENTER – This year, local businesses and community members came together to celebrate the fifth annual Taste of Grundy Center, which yielded the largest turnout in the event’s history.
Twenty different area vendors set up booths around the Grundy County courthouse lawn to offer visitors a sampling of delicious treats, from pinwheels to pudding and craft beer to cookies, there was something for everyone. The treats ranged from small (dainty miniature cupcakes) to large (the biggest soft pretzel Grundy Center has ever seen), and everything in between.
A new addition to this year’s festival was the Pie-In-The-Face event with the Grundy Center Police Department. Sixteen daring participants paid $5 each to throw a pie in the face of a local officer to raise money for the department and the chamber. Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce Director La Rae Randall said that this year’s event was one of the best yet, and the chamber is already thinking of way’s to make next year even better.
The chamber would like to give a big ‘thank you’ to everyone involved in this year’s event, including the vendors who made this event possible: American Lutheran Church, Arlington Place, Broad Street Brewing, Cedar Valley Hospice, Engelbrecht Winery, Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, GC Memorial Hospital, GNB, Green Belt Bank, Grundy Center Police Department, Grundy County REC, HEM Paving, LuLaRoe, Main Street Grundy Center, Scentsy, Stylish Living/SL Bistro, The MarkIT, Tasty House, The Landmark Bistro and United Methodist Church.
