G-R football handles Dunkerton, preps for Tripoli clash

DUNKERTON – Gladbrook-Reinbeck football spun up 409 yards of total offense and rolled over Dunkerton, 60-6, on Friday.

The Rebels are 3-0 and rated sixth in Radio Iowa’s 8-Player poll. They will take on another 3-0 team, No. 10 Tripoli, in Gladbrook on Friday.

Austin Vaverka rushed nine times for 116 yards and three touchdowns. Isaac Clark rushed for a touchdown and threw for two more on 98 yards passing. Luke Riffey caught three passes for 86 yards and a score.

Vaverka was also the top tackler with eight total tackles on Friday. Clark made seven stops, including 2.5 for a loss. Luke Sienknecht and Vaverka had two tackles for loss each.

G-R averaged 13.1 yards per carry in the ground game, and led 30-6 after halftime and 52-6 after three quarters.
