G-R girls’ soccer dominates South Tama; falls to No. 5 W-SR

TAMA – The Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls’ soccer team split their games this past week, dominating South Tama 10-0 on Tuesday, and dropping a close 5-3 contest to highly-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock on Thursday.
This week the Rebels were scheduled to play at Hudson on Tuesday, April 22, and host Class 1A No. 9 Denver on Friday, April 25.

Center forward Nicole Adair scored five goals and provided three assists to lead the Rebels in their 10-0 shutout of South Tama. Kyleah Dugan scored two and had one assist, and a trio of Rebel players, Taylor Weida, Ellie Stoakes, and Hanna Christopher round out the scoring with one goal each. Weida provided two assists and Ellie Stoakes one. The Rebels controlled the ball on both ends of the field, allowing South Tama just one shot on goal the entire game.
“The Lady Rebels played a concise passing game and took more shots outside the 18 yard box,” Gladbrook-Reinbeck head coach Cheryl Pease said.
