G-R trounces BCLUW with balanced attack
CONRAD — BCLUW had a bye week to prepare for Gladbrook-Reinbeck after a pair of blowout losses to AGWSR and Montezuma. Despite an improved performance, the inability to finish drives haunted the Comets once again as they fell 42-6 to the Rebels in Conrad on Friday night.
Blake Cooper gave the Comets a burst of early hope when he forced a fumble, and Jeremy Burnett came up with the recovery. BCLUW was forced to punt after a three and out on offense, and the Rebels atoned for their earlier mistake with an impressive touchdown drive.
A long throw from Cam Kickbush to Colton Dinsdale and a big run from Chase Clark set Pete Meyers up for a five yard touchdown right up the middle to give G-R a 7-0 lead. The Comets answered with a score on the ensuing drive. Conner Ubben floated a perfect pass to Taylor Sams on a fade route for a 38 yard touchdown pass, but a bad snap foiled the extra point to make the score 7-6.
