A man and woman from Grundy Center were taken into custody last week after they were found with an allegedly stolen vehicle. The couple attempted to run into a cornfield near Owasa, when they were apprehended by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department.

According to authorities, 37-year-old Joshua Ray Stearns and 24-year-old Autumn Nicole Fritz have each been charged with second-degree theft and interference with official acts in Hardin County.

Fritz was released on a promise to appear in court, and Stearns was transported to the Grundy County Jail, where he’s currently being held on a no hold bond.

Earlier this month, the Grundy Center Police Department issued a warrant for Stearns’ arrest on charges of third degree burglary. According to GC Police Chief Doug Frost, other charges against Stearns are currently pending.
