GC/G-R's Lynch wins in Dike

DIKE – Kaden Lynch won his third race of the season as the top finisher for Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck cross country at the Wolverine Invite hosted by Dike-New Hartford at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Lynch won in 16 minutes flat to steer the GC/G-R boys to a second-place team finish, two points behind Denver. Grinnell was third with 89 points.

Brennen Sager finished second in 16:41 and Emerson Vokes placed fourth in 16:48. Tyler Venenga ran 17:41 for 17th and Brayden Wallis was the final GC/G-R scorer in 45th, time of 18:42.

The BCLUW boys were 14th, winning a sixth-runner tiebreaker with Dike-New Hartford. Cayden White guided the boys in 37th in 18:22 and Cayden McLeland was 65th in 19:16.

Tyler Nystel led D-NH’s boys in 33rd in 18:16. 

IF-A/AGWSR’s boys were 19th. Jase Beaubien was the fastest Cadet in 24th in 18 minutes even.

In the girls’ race, Nakia Ollivierre’s third-place overall finish paced IF-A/AGWSR’s girls to fourth place in the team standings.

Ollivierre completed the course in 19:03, trailing champion Meghan Wheatley of North Linn’s time of 18:41 and Osage’s Katelyn Johnston in 18:45.

The Cadet girls scored 156 points. Denver won the team title with 68 points, followed by Hudson (126 points) and North Linn (143). 

Teah Miller was eighth in 20 minutes flat; Abby Harding placed 20th in 20:49, Elizabeth Kielty was 56th in 22:38 and Caitlyn Archer ran 69th in 23:14.

D-NH’s girls placed ninth with 245 points. Izzy Houts was 14th in 20:30.

BCLUW’s girls were 17th in the standings. Abby Kemp led the way in 17th in 20:46.

The North Iowa Cedar League meet is this Thursday at La Porte City Golf Course.
