GLADBROOK - A traffic collision between a school bus and a vehicle early this morning left a few students feeling sore, but with no major injuries.
The incident happened at approximately 7:50 this morning on Highway 96 at the east edge of Gladbrook, near Goos Implement.
According to Tama County Sheriff Chad Hansen, the bus driver reportedly became distracted when a student came to the front of the bus to talk to him, and he failed to see a vehicle directly ahead that had slowed down to make a turn. The bus collided with the rear end of the vehicle, sending the vehicle into the ditch.
Hansen said that there were approximately 36 students on the bus at that time, and that about 15 of them were transported by ambulance to the hospital after complaining of some pain. No one involved - including the driver of the other vehicle - were seriously injured, and everyone has since been released from the hospital.
Hansen said the bus driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
