Grundy Center City Council discusses building ordinances
GRUNDY CENTER – At their regular meeting on Monday, the Grundy Center City Council discussed a previously tabled ordinance that proposed building fees and permits.
Currently, the city doesn’t require a permit to build a fence or roof. The only regulation in place for building a fence is a height restriction, and there are currently no restrictions set in place for building a roof.
The ordinances discussed at the meeting, Ordinance 525 and 526, would require residents of Grundy Center to acquire a permit if they wished to erect a fence, or to completely re-roof their home. Along with the permit, there is a proposed fee of $40 for any project between $0 and $8,000, and a half percent charge for any project exceeding $8,000.
