Grundy Center clocks second best 4 x 800 time in Class 1A
HUDSON – The Grundy Center Spartan girls not only won the 4 x 800-meter relay event at the Hudson Relays last Monday night, they clocked the second best time in Class 1A this season. The team of Piper Johanns, Tiana Saak, Katie Lindeman, and Hannah Stumberg shaved 25 seconds off the relay’s previous best mark this season, running the event in 10:13.79. North Linn currently holds the top time in Class 1A at 10:02.71.
Other top finishes at Hudson for the Spartans included Stumberg’s fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash, Jessica Ackerson’s sixth place showing in the 100-meter dash, Tiana Saak’s sixth place finish in the 1,500-meter run, and a sixth place by the distance medley relay team. The Spartans placed 11th overall amongst a competitive field of 16 scoring teams.
“I was pleased with our overall effort,” Grundy Center coach Todd Rohler said.
