Grundy Center, D-NH girls take state titles

For the first time ever, a pair of Grundy County high school athletic teams stood in victory together.  Tuesday the both the Grundy Center girls' golf team took the championship in Class 1A while Dike-New Hartford took the crown in 2A at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.

The Spartans bested the Class 1A field by 33 shots to win their state-record 13th title while the Wolverines won by an even larger 53-shot margin for their first-ever state crown.

Complete results of the tournament will be printed in this week's Grundy Register, available Wednesday at local retailers.
