Grundy Center Middle School students get taste of robotics

GRUNDY CENTER — Grundy Center Middle School students are getting excited about robotics.
Early last month, 32 Middle School Students traveled to Marshalltown Community College the regional First Lego League Tournament.  First Lego League is an inter-national robotics and problem solving competition that involves more than  20,000 teams in 70 different countries.
Grundy County was very well represented, sending four teams sponsored by the school district and one team supported by Grundy County 4-H.
Competition includes four segments. First, teams design and pro-gram an autonomous robot that must complete different obstacles on a table-size game board.  Next, teams research and create a group presentation.  This year’s theme was “Nature’s Fury.”  Each team shared their solutions to a real world problem created by natural disasters with a group of judges.
