Grundy Center speech earns high marks

Students competed in four different disciplines at the IHSSA State Speech Contest in Decorah on Feb. 5, receiving several Division 1 ratings from judges.
The musical theatre group “Newsies” earned three Division 1 ratings, with members Riley Allen, Juliana Corbett, Brylee Hoeg and Cadance Schroer.
In group improv, “We Eat Concrete” earned three Division 1 ratings, with members Riley Allen and Brylee Hoeg.
In group improv, “Kid, Karen and Dave” earned three Division 1 ratings, with members Ashlyn Kuiper, Blake Stahl and Jessica Saak.
In group mime, “Home Robbery for Dummies” earned two Division 1 ratings and one Division 2 rating, with members Juliana Corbett, Kilynn Hitchings, and Cadance Schroer.
A Division 1 rating is considered a “Superior” performance and a Division 2 rating is considered an “Excellent” performance.
