Grundy County Memorial once again a National Top 100 hospital
For the third year in a row, Grundy County Memorial Hospital has earned a spot as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital. Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, this annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals.
“This award is a direct reflection of the incredible team we have here at GCMH,” says Adam Scherling, MHA, the hospital’s administrator. “Each of our associates are committed to excellence and it shines through in the care they deliver each and every day.”
The Chartis Center annually assesses the nation’s 1,350 critical access hospitals using eight measures that are referred to as the “Hospital Strength INDEX”. Now in its 13th year, the INDEX has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized among the top performing hospital’s in the nation,” says Scherling. “Despite all the challenges we’ve faced in health care over the past three years, our focus continues to be providing the high-quality care our patients have come to expect.”
Grundy County Memorial Hospital is among only 8 Iowa hospitals recognized for this honor, including two other hospitals that are affiliated with UnityPoint Health. According to the Chartis Center for Rural Health, hospitals recognized as a Top 100 scored in the top 1% among critical access hospitals nationally. GCMH was also named as a top performer in 2021 and 2022.
