Johnson, Wheat help Wolverines clinch second place in District 4

SUMNER — Trent Johnson ran for 284 yards and a pair of long touchdowns as Dike-New Hartford clinched second place in Class 1A, District 4 with a 28-14 victory over Sumner-Fredericksburg Friday.
The Wolverines (6-2 overall, 4-1 in the district) will qualify for the Class 1A playoffs for the fifth straight year and will most-likely host a first-round game.
“That was a good win tonight against a solid team,” Wolverine coach Don Betts said. “We told the kids that this was going to be one of those grinder type ballgames, it was going to be tough and physical. Every time you play Sumner-Fred they’re like that.”
