Joyce Middleton

Joyce Arlene Middleton, 90, of Grundy Center passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Creekside Nursing Home of natural causes.

A service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Steve Tyykila officiating. The burial will be held privately by the family at a later date.

Joyce was born on Aug. 10, 1933, the daughter of Elmer and Hildegarde (Hansen) Kuhl. Joyce graduated from Beaman High School in 1951.

Joyce was married to Dean Middleton at Peace Evangelical Church in Gladbrook on Dec. 7, 1952. Joyce helped with the family farm for 45 years in Grundy Center, drove a school bus for the Grundy Center Community School District for many years and spent many years working with Ken’s Catering. She also ran her own flower shop, Blossoms and Things, for 14 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and baking for her family. Joyce also enjoyed watching sports, Grundy Center High School, Iowa State University, Minnesota Twins baseball and the Minnesota Vikings football team. Her greatest joy was working with flowers, her garden, reading cookbooks and sharing new recipes with her friends over coffee.

Joyce is survived by her children; Connie Middleton of Ames, Donna (Curt) Ramundt of Grundy Center and Ann (Billy) Carter of Milton, Fla.; grandchildren Nicholas (Amy) Carter of Grundy Center, Jessica (Ryan) Patrick of Grundy Center, Casey (Carolyn) Carter of Downers Grove, Ill. and Brad (Stacie) Ramundt of Hudson; great grandchildren Gabrielle, Olivia and Katie Patrick, Hunter Ramundt, Ti Carter, Kelli, Jon, and Luke Moen; Sister in law Audrey Kuhl and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Tom.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Mercy One North in Mason City, Creekside Nursing home and Cedar Valley Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided.

Memorials may be directed to the Kling Memorial Library, First Presbyterian Church, and Cedar Valley Hospice. With honor, Adams Celebration of Life is serving the family.
