Kiburis invited to D-I hoops showcase

Gladbrook-Reinbeck's William Kiburis has been selected to participate in a basketball recruiting showcase in Kansas City, Missouri later this year.

The Rebel junior was one of 40 selected from 85 athletes invited to an Iowa Boys Coaches Association tryout for the event, which was held March 30 at Waukee Northwest High School. Kiburis will play on one of five teams of eight players representing Iowa at Staley High School in the Kansas City area on June 17 and 18 in games against teams from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma, with a total of 200 athletes selected for this event.

In all, 250 coaches from Division I, Division II and lower collegiate programs will have eyes on the players competing in Kansas City.

Aplington-Parkersburg's Gavin Thomas and Garrett Hempen were the other athletes from North Iowa Cedar League schools chosen to this event.
