Leanna Pearl Bowers

REINBECK - Leanna Pearl Bowers, age 78, of rural Reinbeck, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 22 at Abels Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial was in the Reinbeck Cemetery.

Leanna was born on October 3, 1945, in Black Hawk County. She was the devoted daughter of Milton and Loretta (Golliday) Christiansen. Leanna graduated from Dike High School in the class of 1963 and was united in marriage to Harold “Junior” Bowers at the Fredsville Lutheran Church on June 1, 1963. They made their home in Reinbeck and welcomed three children into their family.

During her life Leanna was employed as a housekeeper for several different facilities including: the Reinbeck Post Office, Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, the New Life Assembly of God Church, and many private homes. She took great pride in her work.

Leanna’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was confirmed at Fredsville Lutheran Church, later in life attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, then New Life Assembly of God Church and the Baptist Church in Reinbeck. Leanna derived great pleasure from sending bouquets of flowers to family members and it made her happy receiving them as well. She enjoyed writing letters and talking on the phone with family and friends. Leanna loved thrift shopping and going to her favorite store, Von Maur. She dearly loved her cats Coco Puff, Spot, Bandit, and Rascal. Reading the Bible, talking to Jesus, and watching her Christian programs were her favorite past times. However, her true joy in life came from spending time with her family. She will be missed and long remembered.

Leanna is survived by her husband Junior; children Kim (Gregg) Nelsen, Jennifer (Rick) Stoner, and Christopher (Michelle) Bowers; grandchildren Joshua Roum, Elizabeth Gallegos, Sarah Gribbins, Kathryn Roum, Allison Mosley, Dalton Bowers, and Abigail Bowers; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother James (Connie) Christiansen. She was preceded in death by her parents.
