Linda Bullen

MARSHALLTOWN — Linda Bullen, 78, of Marshalltown, passed away on the morning of Friday, Sept. 29, 2023 at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Medical Center at the Werner Cancer Center from complications of an autologous stem cell transplant with her family by her side.

A celebration of life for Linda will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Attendees are encouraged to come in casual dress attire. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Linda’s name may be directed to Tee Up to Beat Cancer. Linda Russie was born June 14, 1945 to Robert and Ardys (Bachman) Russie in Marshalltown. She was the middle of three children and grew up in Conrad. She attended school in the Beaman-Conrad School District and graduated in the class of 1963. Linda attended the Marshalltown College of Nursing following high school and received her nursing diploma.

Linda was united in marriage to Richard Beeghly. From this union she had two children Nancy and Jeff. Richard and Linda later divorced and she was later married to Michael Bullen on May 18, 1990 in Marshalltown. Linda always had care and compassion for others. She worked as a nurse at the Marshalltown Hospital until 2007 when she retired. She has resided in Marshall County for the majority of her life.

Linda was a member of the Conrad Methodist Church. In her free time, her first and favorite hobby was her family. She enjoyed attending family get togethers, spending time with grandchildren and attending all of their activities. She also enjoyed spending time with many friends, reading books, cross stitching, reading greeting cards (and laughing out loud) to purchase to have on hand, and trips to the casino but as one would think her trips were not always just for the gambling; Linda enjoyed meeting friends to just have social gatherings. With her compassionate and caring attitude, she always was prompt about sending greeting cards not only to all of her family members and friends for holidays and birthdays but even some patients that she had connected with as she cared for them in the hospital. She had a calendar and once you were on it, you were on it for life.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Bullen; her children, Nancy (Brent) Baerenwald and Jeff Beeghly; her grandchildren, Lucas Halverson, Ashlee Halverson, and Lindsay Beeghly; her siblings, Sandra Engle and Barbara (Jim) Poe; an aunt, Marilyn Bachman; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and brothers and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ardys Russie; her first husband Richard Beeghly; her brother-in-law Ron Engle; her mother and father-in-law John and Helen Bullen; and aunts and uncles.
