Linda VanDeest
Linda VanDeest, 82, of Wellsburg, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 27 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Linda Lu VanDeest was born April 15, 1942, in Eldora to Ben and Luella (Stahl) Nederhoff. She attended Timothy Christian School and then graduated from Wellsburg High School and Iowa State Teachers College. After graduation, Linda went on to work for Lundy, Butler & Wilson Law Firm in Eldora. On July 14, 1961, Linda was united in marriage to Ted VanDeest in the First Christian Reformed Church, in Wellsburg, enjoying 63 years together. To this union three children were born, Sherri, Kevin and Nicolette. In 1964 Linda transitioned to help her husband, Ted, run VanDeest Meat Processors in Wellsburg. They worked together running the business for 33 years. After they sold the business, Linda returned to working at the law firm in Eldora which she had previously worked, which is now Craig, Smith & Cutler.
Linda loved to play bridge with her friends and very much enjoyed walks with her husband. She taught Sunday School and Catechism at the Wellsburg Reformed Church where she was member. She was also the secretary for the Iowa Meat Processors Association for several years. Linda was known for her infectious smile, her kind heart and love for her family. She cherished all the time spent during holidays, birthdays and family gatherings. Along with her husband Ted, she attended numerous sporting events and activities for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda treated her children’s friends as her own.
Linda is survived by her husband Ted, children Sherri (Jeff) Renken of Parkersburg, Kevin (Nancy) VanDeest of Pipe Creek, Texas and Nicki (Scott) Krueger of Iowa Falls, grandchildren Travis (Michelle) Renken, Brittany Renken, Jeremy, Joshua, & Lindsay VanDeest, Rhett, Ryann & Andie Krueger, great-grandchildren Tayler, Melia, Levi, Hannah & Hallie Renken.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son Allen.
