Lindeman, Verhulst named top NICL West, East players

amed the best of the best in the North Iowa Cedar League Monday. Grundy Center junior Katie Lindeman was named Outstanding Player in the NICL West while Dike-New Hartford senior Olivia Verhulst was named Player of the Year in the NICL East.
The duo were among 12 local players honored on the teams announced by coaches. Lindeman joined AGWSR sophomore Maddie Brandt on the West Division first team while Verhulst was joined by D-NH teammates Lizzy Blough and Brooke Morgan on the East Division first team.
In addition, Dike-New Hartford coach Bruce Dall was named East Division coach of the year after leading the Wolverines to their first-ever undefeated run through the NICL East. All three Wolverine losses were to state qualifying teams that combined for a 65-5 record entering the state tourney.
