Local schools team up to 'Black Out Cancer'

Students, fans, and parents from both BCLUW and South Hardin came together on Friday night- despite their teams opposing each other on the court- to lend a hand to three families who are battling cancer.
 
            The “Black Out Cancer” event at BCLUW High School featured a free will donation pancake dinner, a silent auction with a host of goods donated by local businesses, special t-shirts, players and cheerleaders wearing pink to support breast cancer research and a special “Pie a Teacher in the Face” contest at halftime of the boys’ game to benefit the families of BCLUW High School library aide Kelly Hoover and Yolanda Butler (the wife of Industrial Arts teacher David Butler), who are both battling breast cancer, as well as elementary janitor Rick Mull, who is also battling cancer. All three are in the midst of receiving chemotherapy treatment.
