Massive rally powers BCLUW past Janesville

CONRAD – BCLUW volleyball came back from a 2-0 deficit to win their opening-round regional game with Janesville, a five-set triumph in Conrad to move the Comets to the regional quarterfinals in Class 1A Region 5.

BCLUW won 22-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 15-13 and improved to 19-19 this season.

Grace Farnsworth led the Comets with 18 kills and added three total blocks and 14 digs. Kailan McEwen contributed 11 kills and Virginia Kaisand had nine kills. BCLUW’s offense was set up by Sydney Anderson, finishing with 45 assists.

Defensively, Callie Swanson drudged up 31 digs, with Raegan Crawford contributing 21 digs and Anderson bringing up 20 digs. At the net, Mallori Jones made five total blocks.

The Comets converted 105-of-111 serve attempts with eight aces. Crawford was 23-of-24 serving with three aces.

BCLUW traveled to Dunkerton to take on the 15th-ranked Raiders in a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday. The winner will play either St. Ansgar or Tripoli in Dunkerton on Monday, Oct. 24. The regional final is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at a site to be determined.
