Mattie Henricks

Mattie Irene Henricks, 85, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on December 25, 2020 at Creekside Living in Grundy Center. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.abelsfuneralhomes.com.

 

Mattie was born on February 9, 1935 in Parkersburg, Iowa to her parents Earl and Tillie (Adolfs) Iblings. She was raised in Parkersburg and Holland and was educated in Holland. Mattie was united in marriage to Harold Henricks on April 25, 1951 at the Christian Reformed Church in Holland. They made their home in Holland and welcomed 2 children into their family. Mattie was a homemaker most of her life, but when she and Harold moved to Grundy Center, she worked for 15 years at Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Mattie was a proud member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She loved playing cards especially Pepper, and she was known for her baking especially her pies. She also loved to visit with people but was never shy about making her feelings and opinions known. However, Mattie’s true joy in life came from spending time with her family. Mattie is survived by her daughter Karen (Greg) Hines of Conrad, Iowa; grandchildren Adam (Amanda) Hines, Amy (Wade) Davidson, Brittany (Tee) Burt and Alyssa Henricks (her Fiancé Hunter Bowman); 7 step-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; son Roger Henricks and grandson Alex Hines.
