Miss Iowa visits Grundy Center
GRUNDY CENTER — The reigning Miss Iowa, Nicole Kelly, paid a visit to Grundy Center Schools on Friday, Nov. 22. Kelly spoke to kindergartners through eighth-graders about overcoming obstacles, setting dreams and achieving them.
Kelly is a Keokuk native who recently graduated from the Johnny Carson School of Theater and Film at the University of Nebraska. She is spending the current school year visiting schools and all types of businesses and organizations, talking about her experiences as Miss Iowa.
Kelly was born without her left forearm and learned from an early age how to do all the things she wanted to do. She told the students about how she plays basketball, drives and types on a keyboard among other things.
