Parker makes history with 53 points against West Marshall

DIKE – It was a history making week for the Dike-New Hartford boys’ basketball, specifically for senior Carson Parker, as he achieved a record-setting 53 point performance in the Wolverines’ 79-77 win over West Marshall last Tuesday.
Parker’s 53 points marked not only a personal best and a school record for single points scored in a game, it is the most points scored by an Iowa boys’ high school player since 2005 when Andrew’s Justin Haley scored 62 in a double overtime game. The last player to score more than Parker’s 53 in a regulation game was Wapsie Valley’s Brooks McKowen who had a 59 point game against Jesup in 2002. McKowen coincidentally will be Parker’s college basketball coach at Upper Iowa next year.
Dike-New Hartford also clinched a share of the NICL-East title with a 41-37 win over Wapsie Valley, and earned a 64-57 win over Grundy Center in their final week of regular season play.
The Wolverines, who enter the postseason with an 18-3 record, have a first round bye in the Class 2A District 6 bracket, and will play the winner of the Hudson vs. Iowa Falls-Alden game at Parkersburg on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
