Plans taking shape for possible new County Annex building

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy County Board of Supervisors Monday began to debate possibilities for a new county annex building.
Mardy Holst, of AHST Architects, presented three plans for a building that would replace the county’s current annex, an aging structure located south of the County Courthouse on H Avenue. One plan presented would place a single-story structure directly west of the current annex on property that has been offered to be sold to the county while two other plans, one a single-story building and the other a two-story structure, would be built immediately south of the Sheriff’s Office on land already owned by the county. Each of the proposed buildings would have between 4,500 and 5,000 square feet of floor space. Building on the Sheriff’s Department lot would cost the department parking space, though other parking would be added when the current annex is torn down.
