Rebels dominate state tournament opener

DES MOINES — Anybody concerned about how Gladbrook-Reinbeck would acclimate to its first-ever state boys’ basketball tournament appearance needed just six seconds to get their answer ... in the form of a Camden Kickbush 3-pointer.
That was the story all game as the Rebels drained 11 3-pointers on their way to a surprisingly one-sided 80-57 victory over Nodaway Valley in the first round of the state basketball tournament Monday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
“We just wanted to get the most out of our runs,” Kickbush, who finished with 24 points and five assists said. “Defense is where it starts and it just goes into offense — we moved the ball and played our game and did what we wanted to.”
