Rebels serve 16 aces, dominate regional opener

GARWIN — Hayley Weber finished with eight kills and three service aces last Tuesday as Gladbrook-Reinbeck opened Class 1A, Region 6 postseason play with a 25-7, 25-15, 25-10 sweep over GMG.
The Rebels (17-18) advanced to the quarterfinal round of regionals, where they faced Don Bosco Tuesday in Garwin. GMG finishes with a 4-15 record.
The Rebels never trailed in any of the three games while improving to 4-4 in road matches this season.
“I think the girls were really excited to come into it and get started again,” Rebel head coach Danielle Clark said. “We feel like we have a better chance this year without having to see Dike right away, in the second round like we have in the past, or Grundy. I think the kids are a little more amped up to see some new teams, some new faces.”
