Reyes, Meinders take titles at Al DeLeon Invitational

BRITT – The AGWSR wrestling team brought home three individual championships, two runners-up, and a third place finish from the Al DeLeon Invitational at West Hancock High School in Britt on Saturday. Central Springs took the team title by a 42 point margin over second place Sumner-Fredericksburg.
“The Cougars had a good day on the mat before heading into a well-deserved break,” AGWSR head wrestling coach Chad Gerbracht said. “We really enjoyed the format of this tournament - round robin, everybody wrestles everybody, no juggling of lineups.”
Miguel Reyes, crowned tournament champion the past two weekends, knocked off eighth rated JD Sliger of Central Spring 3-1 in the final on Saturday. Reyes remains undefeated, 16-0 at 126 this season, recording falls in half of those wins.
“Miguel is on fire this year, (he is) very smooth in technique and (has a) great mat sense,” Coach Gerbracht said. “He has worked very hard to improve his weak areas of a year ago.”
