Riffey's firepower key in Rebel win

CONRAD – If the shots aren't falling for Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys basketball, Dylan Riffey can come in to make a difference.

The sophomore is one of the most accurate shooters for the Rebels, and his early 3-pointers kept G-R in the game against BCLUW last Friday night, with the Rebels using a lopsided second quarter to hold off the Comets for a 62-56 victory at BCLUW High School.

The win kept G-R in the hunt for a piece of the NICL West title. AGWSR, G-R and South Hardin are all a game behind the current leader West Marshall, which clinched a share of the title after an 80-57 win against BCLUW on Saturday. The Trojans' final game of the league schedule against G-R was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Riffey finished with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Jackson Kiburis led the Rebels with 20 points and eight rebounds. Tyler Tscherter added 17 points with eight assists.

"I come in looking to score," Riffey said. "Everyone's creating shots for me and I just try to feed off their drives. It's why I'm in the game."
