Right place, right time for GCHS Boys’

    MARSHALLTOWN – Behind bookend performances from senior Lane Bangasser and freshman Jesper Holke-Farnam, the Grundy Center boys’ golf team capped off a successfully 2014 season with a second-place team finish at the Class 1A Boys’ State Golf Tournament held at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown Friday and Saturday.
    No strangers to state competition, Coach Dennis Dirks and the Spartan players were confident going into this year’s tournament.
    “We liked our chances at the Marshalltown course,” Dirks said. “We just felt we were headed to the right place at the right time. We liked the course and we were playing our best golf of the year.”
