Ronald Ellingson
CEDAR FALLS - Ronald King Ellingson, 72, of Cedar Falls, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center, under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice and surrounded by his loving family.
A private family graveside inurnment will be held at the Friends Cemetery in Iowa Falls. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Ron and his family.
Born on April 24, 1952, in Mason City, Ron was a dedicated family man and a proud Navy veteran.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Tombigbee and USS Ponchatola. His time in the Navy was a source of great pride, and he often shared stories of his service, travel and the camaraderie he experienced on the ship.
Following his honorable discharge, Ron worked for Farmland in Iowa Falls and then retired from Richelieu in Grundy Center. He had a love for games; specifically Rummy and Aggravation, Iowa Hawkeye football and golf.
In 1975, Ron married Valerie Soesbe, with whom he shares a son, Chad, before they divorced. Ron then shared a unique journey with his wife, Cindy. They were first married in 1979, and though life took them on separate paths for a time, their love brought them back together. Ron and Cindy remarried in 1989, renewing their commitment. They share a son, Ryan.
He leaves behind his wife, Cindy (Lyman); two sons, Chad (Teresa) Ellingson and Ryan (Kelly) Ellingson; adored grandchildren, Lily Ellingson, Wyatt Ellingson and Lane Ellingson; sister, Denise (Bill) Wieland, brother, Rick (Gina) Ellingson and many neices & nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Alton & Floreine Ellingson; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Christine Ellingson and sister, Deidra Hippen.
Ron’s smile and memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. A private service will be held followed by a celebration of Ron's life on June 29, from 11 a.m. to 1pm at Timbukbru in Iowa Falls. Friends welcome.
